<p>This exam is conducted by the UPSC in order to get people for the cadre of Grade IV officers for the Indian Statistical Services and the Indian Economic Service. The exam is almost always conducted in November every year.<br />
The ISS and IES are government services which need to work on the economic planning and development of the country. They need to statistically collect and analyze data through the state boards, planning commission and other government owned agencies of the country.</p>
<p>If you are a graduate in Economics or Statistics then this is the best career opening for you. Once you are selected for this job you will need to work with the Economics and Statistics department of the government, the Planning Commission, Planning Boards and the Ministry of Economic affairs. There is always a need for specialists in the fields of Economics and Statistics.<br />

UPSC IES, ISS Exam Eligibility:</p>
<p>There are two eligibility criteria to be met before you apply for the job.</p>
<p>Firstly, your age. You must be between the age of 21 and 27 years on the January of the year of exam. The age limit is relaxed for certain sections of the society such as the Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribes and so forth. This will be notified in the application form as the criteria for these relaxations do change from time to time.</p>
<p>Secondly, the educational qualifications are an important eligibility criteria. A person must have a degree from a recognized university of course in Economics or Statistics. The person could have the combination of Mathematics and Statistics or Economics in their graduate study.</p>
<p>UPSC IES, ISS Exam How to Apply:</p>
<p>The advertisements are released in all the prominent newspapers of india. You need to get the application form from any post office, fill it out and post it to the UPSC office in New Delhi. You will then receive the date and hall ticket for the entrance to the exam along with the center.</p>
<p>UPSC IES, ISS Exam Selection Process and Syllabus:</p>
<p>The examination comprises of a written paper and an interview.</p>
<p>The written examination is on these subjects and marks allotted to each.</p>

<p>The Written Examination papers are for three hours each and the entire paper is subjective type that is long essay type answers are required. There is no objective or multiple choice questions in this exam.</p>
<p>The standard that is followed in setting the papers are of the graduate level for English and General Studies. In the case of the other papers the standard is the master’s degree of any Indian university.</p>
<p>The written test is an elimination round. Once you clear it then you will be called for an interview which is of 250 marks. Here you will be judged on your personality and aptitude for the particular job.</p>
