Noise pollution (or environmental noise) is displeasing human, animal or machine-created sound that disrupts the activity or balance of human or animal life. The prevailing source of artificial noise pollution is from transportation. In rural areas, train and airplane noise can disturb wildlife habits, thereby affecting the manner in which animals in areas around train tracks and airports hunt and mate. In urban areas, automobile, motorcycle, and even entertainment noise can cause sleep disruption in humans and animals, hearing loss, heart disease (as a result of stress), and in severe cases even mental instability. A notable exception to the rule is the electric, or hybrid-electric, automobile. Noise pollution is the major pollutant in developing India. Noise pollution has a direct impact on people’s health status, and here we are talking about both psychological and physiological effects of loud sound exposure. Thus, noise pollution is responsible for stress levels, anxiety, depression, insomnia, high blood pressure and even panic attacks. People who work in noisy environments should use protection gear so as to avoid exposure to the sounds, in time noise-induced deafness could appear. Moreover, noise pollution can reduce people’s sensitivity to sounds, speeding up the premature aging of the audio system. Don’t assume that only high-intensity sounds can do that, in fact it is medium intensity noise that is the most commonly associated with such health issues.
